This Privacy Policy explains how Quran Bot (\"we\", \"us\", or \"our\") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you add our bot to your Discord server or use its services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a safe environment for all users.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Quran Bot is designed with a strict privacy-first architecture.

  • No Message Logging: We do not log, read, store, or transmit the contents of text messages in your channels, other than processing commands explicitly prefixed with our bot's slash handlers (e.g., /play, /reciter).
  • No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information (PII) from Discord users.
  • No Audio Recording: While the bot connects to voice channels to stream recitation audio, it never records, monitors, or stores any voice chat data from users in the channel.

2. Information We Access and Process

To perform its core functions, the bot accesses the following temporary data provided by the Discord API:

  • Voice Channel States: The bot monitors voice channel states to determine if users are present in the channel. This allows the bot to perform automatic cleanups (server-unmuting and disconnecting) when a voice channel becomes empty.
  • Guild Configurations: Settings such as your preferred reciter are stored persistently per-guild inside the server's local database file (guild-settings.json). This configuration contains only the Discord Guild ID and Reciter preferences, and does not contain user identities.
  • Interaction Handlers: Temporary session state is held during active stream control panels (storing button interaction timestamps to prevent gateway timeouts).

3. Data Retention and Deletion

Per-guild settings are retained until the bot is removed from the server (kicked/banned) or until the configurations are reset by a server administrator. When the bot is removed from a server, all configurations corresponding to that Guild ID are permanently deleted.

4. Third-Party Services

We stream Quranic audio resources from dedicated, trusted Islamic media distribution servers. No user details or server IDs are shared with these audio servers; the bot fetches audio files directly via standard HTTP requests without sharing any client identity.

5. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected directly on this webpage. We encourage server administrators to review this page periodically.
